1st September 2007 Thailand has beaten the Laos football team 3-2 to become the champion of ASEAN U17 Football Championship. Since the riot against Thai on 29th January 2003, the official relation between Cambodia and Thailand has been restored, but the sentiment among population has not yet been restored fully. As a result, we see that today the match between Thailand and Laos Cambodian football fans support Laos’s team.

Regarding the riot in 2003, me as a Cambodian feel as bad and ashamed as we’ve broke the international rule that is not supposed to be broken, we entered the embassy and burn down everything. Even worse the move was based on rumors. Until this day there is no confirmation that the Thai actress actually made the comment on Angkor Wat, yet the sentiment against Thai still exist in Cambodian society.

Is it time to stop now? Hate does not bring us any good. As a Cambodian we should learn from our mistakes. If we do not want to be looked down on, we should look at our self, improve our self. We don’t have to hate others to show that we love our selves. All people are the same, we are citizens of earth.

Sport is the name of the game. Win or lose is the fact. when two teams play
against each others the results are one winner and one loser.

The only thing you can do to win is to practice, practice and more practice…
and hopefully you can beat them next time.

    Hi….
On behalf one of Khmer people , i am sad to watch …every our National football team matches….because, we always play pretty poor and no energy….
The problems is our players spent a short time to train na,…and they are not a real professional one. Two or three years ago i watched the match , which celebrated in Thailand.. then A Thai commentator laught at our players. They said cambodian palyers not improve they are still bad ….and one of the poorest team in South East Asia… They said ….that’s player is Samel Nasa…He is the very old mid feil of Cambodian player but he can not catch the ball from our youngest player ,,,, we are better…na…

One of my freinds who is Thai… said Cambodia may lose at least 8-0 because we are quite better…
Then I said nothing ….just keep sorrow feeling inside …and I think..in my life i wish to see Cambodia win over Thai a time then I would be died with a tight closed eyes na…
Dear Prime minister Hun Sen…..Could you please help ….our national team . I truth you . only you can do it. IF you put your hand on to involved with Khmer football then it would be improve fast….’
Can you just spent a part of money which the country earn from tourism or any taxes ….to help our football….last time read the news on internet.. it said you praide cambodian player then i am very happy na…..
Please help ……our country …..i am eager the win…na..
In my opinion we can hire a coach from south korea ….no need from Europ in cheap …salary … but the players also need pay all their energy and love to play … If we are eager to win ….

    Bye bye .
One my country would be better ….na…

Guess what! For the first time in Lao football history, Laos won over Thailand 3-0 in the 4-nation tournament. Today, Laos will play against Malaysia in their last fixture. If Laos win, they will become the champion. I don’t want to talk about our national team because it makes me want to cry. It’s miserable that Cambodia lost to Singapore 0-6 in their home.
