The ability to download large files is almost impossible, when we connect to internet using public computers such as internet cafe. It would be a lot easier if we have a download manager that can resume downloads those are not finished from the last time that we connect to internet, stored in our flash drive.
In my previous post I suggested the solution is portable wackget which make it possible to resume downloads when we using public computers. The problem with the portable wackget is it doesn’t increase speed significantly. The solution is Free Download Manager in it’s latest release it include a new feature that allow us to create a portable version of this program. So, next time we want to download large files from the internet all we have to do is download using free down load manager that you’ve created in your flash drive.
Here’s how to create Free Download Manager Portable:
- Download the Free Download Manager (latest version) and install in in your computer.
- Start the program, from file menu select the Create Portable Version.
- Specify the path on your drive where you want to install the Free Download Manager in

Think most download manager work the same. It split file to create more connection utilizing the most of your network resource. So the limitation of any download manager is the bandwidth capacity.
There are differences in the ways it show how the files is download. For Example, the Internet Download Manager show its speed update in almost real time so you see activities all the time, this make you think it is faster.
