The World Bank’s Program to Enhance Capacity in Social Accountability (PECSA) invites citizens of Cambodia to participate in a Short-Essay Writing Competition on the theme/topic of What Can Young People Do to Help the Government be more effective and Accountable?
Three winners will be selected from this competition and will be announced during the National Event on Social Accountability to be held on December 03, 2007 at the Chaktomouk Theatre. The Winning Prize of 1,500,000.00 Reil will be awarded to the first place winner; 1,200,000.00 Riel to the second place winner and 1,000,000.00 to the third place winner.
Who can participate in the Competition?
- Cambodian citizens aged between 15 and 35 years old
- Participant in this competition can be individual or team. Identity of individual competitor or of all member of the team (if work as a group) must be given when submitting the Essay.
Guideline for the Essay:
- The Essay shall not be more than three pages in English or four pages in Khmer. Competitors can write the essay in eight Khmer or in English or in both languages if they whishes.
- The Essay shall be typed in compliance with the following specifications:
- Size of paper: A4
- Line Spacing: Single space
- Font type and size: Time New Roman for English; size 12 and Limon S1 for plain text and Limon R1 for heading; size 22 for Khmer.
- Margin of paper: Top 1″ Bottom 1″ ; Left 1.25″; Right 1.25″
- Size of paper: A4
Selecting Criteria of the winners:
The submitted essay will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Relevance of the essay to the above topic/theme
- Organization of ideas such as flow of arguments, use of examples, reference, and citation to support ides of arguments, of language and grammar.
- How the Ideas are realistic, applicable and relevant to the Cambodian reality and context
